CALLIE ROSE HANAU is a New York City based filmmaker with proud Pittsburgh roots. An exuberant student of life, she has established herself in both the documentary and narrative worlds as a jill-of-all-trades. In addition to her work as a freelance producer, Callie often steps into the roles of director, editor, and sound recordist whenever and wherever she is needed. Her award-winning work has been showcased at festivals throughout North America.
A recent graduate of The New School’s Documentary Media Studies program, Callie was awarded the Executive Dean’s Merit Scholarship and was selected as a jurist for the Peabody Awards in 2019. Previously, she has collaborated with Emmy and Oscar-nominated directors like Tom Donahue, Kelly Anderson, and Debra Granik in a multitude of roles spanning from development to post production. Callie has also enjoyed creating socially-minded short documentaries through her collaborations with the talented artists at Meerkat Media.
Currently, Callie is developing a narrative feature exploring the conflicts between modern life, ancient superstitions, and mother/daughter relationships.
Callie is also the reigning champion of the Media Mavens Fantasy Football league.
